Andrew English The P70t Conch, on show at the Tokyo motor show, the Conch is a three-seater, lithium-ion battery-powered car from the Phiaro design consultancy, together with Japanese design students and made up to prototype size. The concept of the car comes from wanting to make a public car for the urban environment. The 1,830 lb three-seater is a lithium-ion battery powered car meant to attract younger generation through features for example using one’s mobile phone as a start key. p70t Conch is meant to be used as an urban mode transportation in a taxi or car-sharing scenario. It holds a much more promise and has more sense than concepts from a lot of rival car makers, some of which showed the imagination of a goldfish in exploiting the design opportunities presented by electric power.
