With the Concept Mercedes EQA, Mercedes-Benz demostrates at the IAA in Frankfurt how the EQ strategy can be introduced to the compact class.
The Mercedes-Benz has released a video showing the Mercedes EQA electric concept, whose serial version will be competing with the Tesla Model 3. This model is an electric version of Mercedes’s compact A-Class.
The video suggests that the Mercedes EQA hatchback will have blue LED strips on the sides and at the rear, as well as a LED panel on the nose. Unlike most concept cars, Mercedes EQA has rear view mirrors instead of cameras. Unfortunately, the interior is not visible on this recording.
Mercedes expects to launch a serial electric compact crossover next year. Crossover will be the variant is based on the S class – EQS.
Mercedes plans to have ten models with the EQ mark by 2022 in various body shapes. These 10 fully electric models will be part of 50 electrified vehicles by 2022. Among them are plugin hybrid models, fuel cell vehicles and electrical systems at 48 volts.
Daimler’s parent company expects 15% to 25% Mercedes to do electrified vehicles by 2025.
