Designer David Obendorfer has already shown more ideas about modern versions of some legendary cars (Renault 4, Fiat 600, Fiat 127, BMW E9 …), and the latest in this series is the Mercedes-Benz Icon E Concept.
It is a modern interpretation of the former Mercedes W115 from 1968, with Obendorfer predicting the current Mercedes E class for his base. This implies that the length, width, height and wheelbase are practically unchanged.
Although the interior is also modeled on the classic Mercedes W115 (including the appearance of the steering wheel), Obendorfer has also inserted a digital display here.
Mercedes-Benz Icon E Concept also serves as a tribute to Mercedes’s designers from the past, such as Paul Bracq (who styled the original W115) and Bruno Sacco, who was head of design in Mercedes between 1975 and 1999.
