The first car made by 90 percent from different kinds of plastic has been presented in Japan, NHK broadcaster reported on Friday.

Scientists at the University of Tokyo presented the world’s first car made 90% of different types of plastics.

Because of the predominant use of this material, innovative technology scientists have created a vehicle that is 40% lighter than a standard car. This allows for great energy savings, and opens up new opportunities in the development of electric cars.

The use of plastic in making plastic car has long been labeled as impossible because of the insufficient strength of the material. However, Japanese scientists have managed to solve this problem by combining different types of plastics.

Japan is the leader in innovation in the auto industry, for example, during the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, a driverless transport system will be launched, which will be commercialized in 2022 in this country.
