Audi recently unveiled the R8 E-Tron Piloted Driving Technical Concept at the 2015 International CES Asia. Based on the electrically-powered, high performance R8 E-Tron sports car, this “piloted driving” project is performance-focused and packing an electric powertrain to deliver 456 horsepower, 679 pound-feet of torque and a 0-62 time of 3.9 seconds and hit a top speed of 130 mph or 155 mph depending on which tires the car is using. It features the new R8’s multi-material Space Frame, a carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) rear car body module, e-tron-specific lighting, and a high-voltage, T-shaped Audi lithium-ion battery that can be charged in less than two hours. Inside, there’s a Combined Charging System (CSS) for direct charging, and a luggage compartment that’s lined with corrugated walls.
