Meet GreenGT the first design study of a Le Mans prototype that could be compete in the 2011 race at Le Mans 24 hours.

-Le Mont-sur-Lausanne-based team GreenGT the young French designer Thomas Clavet Valencienne ISD School of Design to create this prototype of Le Mans.

The prototype consists of the specifications of the FIA chassis with a carbon body fiberglass. Comes with 2 water-cooled electric motors with 100 kW each (2 x 100 kW), with a differential gearbox patented GreenGT. Supply of energy comes from photovoltaic solar panels flexcell and two lithium-ion batteries, each with 30kWh. All this weighs on a vessel in the form of 860 kg.

He says: “The GreenGT design study could become our 2011 Le Mans Prototype electric racer or it could even become an electric road going supercar. There is a possibility to do both! The advantage of electric cars is that the only difference between a GreenGT electric racecar and road car is the electronic programming. It would be amazing to create two prototype race cars to compete in the 2011 24 hours of Le Mans and 22 road going supercars.”

While we believe it is a pretty slick looking design, we can not but wonder whether some of the openings of the body are really necessary for an electric car. Perhaps a little time to wind tunnel would be some benefit before frittering away too many francs. However, it would be cool to see on a runway somewhere, or better yet, in the ABG garage.

The latest SSC Ultimate Aero now able to generate 1,287 hp, an raise of 15 % from the previous model, thanks to the 1-piece billet aluminum engine block. With the more powerful engine, the 2009 Ultimate Aero is capable to get a top speed of 270 mph. The 2009 SSC Ultimate Aero comes with the AeroBrakeTM, a carbon fiber rear spoiler that deploys under braking situations. The 2009 SSC Ultimate Aero has a restyled dash with latest dash valves from carbon fiber and inset air vents. It also has carbon fiber insertions on the doors and around the new gauges. The guys from Shelby SuperCars haven’t publicize this car’s price yet.
