Designed by Chris Cooke as a Coventry University transport design project, the Mobula is a hybrid vehicle bridge between a cruise and a passenger aircraft.During research phase of the project, Cooke looked to nature for inspiration. And in fact the vehicle name comes from a special kind of ray that can launch itself out of the water several meters.
Accommodating 1,000 passengers based over 5 decks and in three different classes, the hybrid vehicle includes an integrated seat suspension system capability to provide maximum comfort to the commuters. Moreover, the luxury transport vehicle tout TV, in-seat storage, under floor footrests and drink and snack sales in-between the seats.
While Mobula is a radical, futuristic and advanced concept in terms of their design and theory behind it, unfortunately its extreme complexity and high cost of vehicle development through production means that it is almost guaranteed to remain a concept.
